Summer has arrived which means we are making space to celebrate our local artists. Every year, we focus on local talent in what we call our MADE IN RVA summer series. For our 2026 season we welcome Keira Maiden, Alicia Dietz, Jenny Kacini, Shaun Fera, Sarah Parker, Chris Skibbe, Justin R Cockrell, Rachel Rader, Robin Corradino, Alyssa Salomon, Hechizo, Kourtenay Plummer and Margaret Meehan.
July 10-August 8 Keira Maiden will be presenting a new series of work titled Beautiful Bodies. This exhibition confronts society’s narrow and often unattainable standards of female beauty. By highlighting features that are frequently criticized, hidden, or deemed “imperfect”— different body sizes, breast sizes, asymmetry, scars, and other natural characteristics —the work challenges the cultural pressures that teach women to view themselves through a lens of judgment. Instead, viewers are invited to embrace the beauty in all bodies. Beautiful Bodies rejects the idea that beauty exists only within a prescribed ideal and instead celebrates the authenticity, individuality, and inherent worth of every body.
Throughout the month of August, Alma's will be hosting a series of Trunk Shows with 4 different local artists grouped together each week. Wednesdays will be for sneak previews, Thursdays will be for sipping and shopping and Fridays will be for Artist Receptions.
