Michelle Smith creates enchanting psychedelic art under the moniker Sugar Cadavers. They explore themes of nostalgia, magic, obsession, and loss through the conjuring of portals and bold, frenetic, deeply textural, ritualistic patterns and tactile mark making. Their diverse body of work is interwoven with an oversaturated color palate influenced by the vibrant hues of Y2K and the 90’s that transports the viewer through a series of liminal, otherworldly spaces somewhere between the digital, physical, and spiritual realms.
