Shawn Noroian is a contemporary jeweler and metalsmith based in Richmond, VA, who holds a BFA from the University of Massachusetts—Amherst and an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design in Jewelry and Light Metals. With a background in Printmaking, graphic design, and metalworking, Shawn has refined a distinctive style that blends traditional metalsmithing with modern design sensibilities. 

Shawn draws on influences from places she has lived or traveled—from the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts to the desert landscapes of New Mexico, from Virginia Beach and the Blue Ridge of Virginia to the Singing Sand Dunes and the inland sea of Qatar. She is inspired by the natural world and the organic forms, patterns, and textures she encounters. 

Her work combines custom-cast organic forms with forged and fabricated structures to create well-crafted, thoughtfully designed jewelry and objects. 

In addition to her studio work, Shawn has taught at Rhode Island School of Design, Virginia Commonwealth University—Qatar, and currently at VisArts. Her diverse teaching experiences enrich her practice and contribute to her ongoing technical and artistic growth.

About Ear Candy: 

Alma's is thrilled to host our 3rd annual invitational earring exhibition. Ear Candy 2026 features work from 86 local, national and internationally recognized artists. This annual event showcases earrings made by applauded, established jewelers alongside experimental, non-traditional and emerging talent. Ear Candy is a playful and accessible way to interact with and collect art jewelry, support locally made and one of a kind work all at once.

Always a priority, Alma’s seeks opportunity to spotlight those who make Richmond uniquely special. In line with this goal, Ear Candy presents the work of 30 different Richmond artists. 

Ear Candy runs on Friday, February 6 through Saturday, March 28.
