Alexandra Barao Large Wood Fired Vase

Alexandra Barao a potter and educator currently based in Western North Carolina. She was born and raised in Virginia and received her BFA in Sculpture + Extended Media at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2010. She spent the last decade in the San Fransisco Bay Area learning, teaching, and building community through clay. Upon returning to Virginia in 2022, she spent the summer as an artist in residence at Cub Creek Foundation, where she furthered her focus on exploring wild clays and wood firing. This past winter, she was an artist in residence at Township 10 in Marshall, North Carolina.
