This large flat vase is hand blown by artist Pierre Bowring. It stands a little over 10" high and features a gradient from brilliant transparent emerald green to opaque apricot, the meeting of the two colors is both surprising and beautiful.
Bowring, a Richmond native, began blowing glass at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2004. Since graduating, Pierre has been living and working in the Hudson Valley, NY.
The material, which demands extreme focus and a quick, intuitive response keeps him humble, curious and determined. For Bowring, the mental and physical challenge of the process is both rewarding and never-ending. Pierre strives to make objects that are clean, elegant and singular. He believes it is important to surround oneself with forms that add beauty to one's life.
